Critérium du Dauphiné 2015 Stage 8: Brilliant Froome takes stage and overall

The last stage of the Dauphiné is 161kilometres long. At the steepest section of the finish climb Froome attacks and tortures Van Garderen. The Englishman wins both the stage and the overall. (Slideshow route/profile)

Race report
Wilco Kelderman initiates the break and he is accompanied by Albert Timmer, Gorka Izagirre, Bruno Pires, Perrig Quémeneur, Romain Sicard, Stephen Cummings, Tony Martin, Cyril Gautier, Gatis Smukulis, Bart De Clercq, Julien Simon and Lars Boom. Sky takes control in the pack and keeps the break at 2 to 3 minutes.

In the descent of Saint-Georges-d'Hurtières Martin. He is the first to crest Lacets de Montvernier with a 4 minutes advantage, while Kelderman at al is at 1´30`.

With 15 km´s left all escapees are reeled in, except for Cummings who now soloes upfront. When Nibali sets the pace on the closing climb one rider after the other rider is dropped. Cummings still enjoys a 1 minute lead.
