Sunday, 16th of April 2017 will see the 2017 Amstel Gold Race for women. The last edition was held in 2003 with Nicole Cook taking the flowers. The current race director, Leontien van Moorsel, soloed to victory in 2002. Following the start in Maastricht the peloton of the 2017 edition travels through the hills of the southernmost part of the Netherlands. While the race totals 125 kilometres, the finish is 1.6 kilometres after cresting the short and steep Cauberg.
